<\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text css=””]Palmer Gulch Stables is the ONLY<\/strong>\u00a0barn of this kind to hold a riding permit in the Norbeck Wildlife Preserve. The most beautiful trails in the Black Hills National Forest are found in this wildlife sanctuary!<\/p>\n

We offer 1hr and 1 1\/2hr customized trail riding tours tailored to our guests.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The rides are small groups, typically 5-8 people per tour.\u00a0 A larger party can be requested. Choose the ride length that best suits you and your family, then proceed to the book now page and secure your horseback adventure.<\/p>\n

Horseback riders *are* allowed to bring a cell phone. We recommend tucking it somewhere that is not your back pocket.<\/div>\n

Riders should wear closed-toed shoes. We recommend long pants. We do not provide helmets so you are welcome to bring a well-fitted hat if you’d like!<\/div>\n

Otherwise, you can call us to book a reservation. The barn office opens May 26th for phone-in reservations. Small children need to be at least 45 lbs. and must be willing and able to follow instructions. Most 6-year-olds are led by a guide.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Is There A Weight Limit?” style=”round_outline” color=”white” el_id=”1485035754919-c31bca35-8d93″]Yes. The Maximum Weight of a horseback rider is 230 lbs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To ensure the health and safety of both riders and horses, anyone that signs in at\u00a0\u00a0200 pounds<\/u> or more are subject to being weighed on a scale at the check-in window.<\/p>\n

Note: trail riding can be more difficult for people with poor height to weight ratios.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Will I need to arrive early?” style=”round_outline” color=”white” css=”” el_id=”1448173493019-11c9bf06-bd78″]Yes! We\u2019re glad you asked. Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time.<\/strong> We do have some paperwork for each member of your group to fill out. All participants must complete a liability waiver and verify age, height, and weight.<\/p>\n

You will be introduced to a guide and a detailed orientation will precede each ride departure.<\/p>\n

Ride times are posted as DEPARTURE TIMES. Some are fast walkers and some are slow walkers. We encourage you to stop by anytime to see the barn, ask questions, and let the kids pet a few of our amazing horses!<\/p>\n
